In social studies, we will wrap up our study of westward expansion. Students will view videos and photographs showing the conflicts between Native Americans, cowboys, ranchers, and railroad workers. They will create tools used by railroad workers and those settling the west.
It was so good to hear that students were reading and visiting the library when they were home last week. I hope your child has showed you his/her online reading log. We will continue to log our reading throughout the school year. This is a wonderful way for you to monitor what your child is reading as well as his or her pacing.
We will also continue our study with nouns by investigating singular and plural nouns. Students will take a look at figurative language as we read tall tales.
AVID
The fourth and fifth grade AVID students will be collecting dry goods for Harvest Hope Food Bank on Thursday, Oct. 15 and Friday, Oct. 16 for the flood victims. You will be receiving updates from our class as we prepare for this drive. Please send in your donations!
